The five lakes of Mt. Fuji

The five lakes that lie at the foot of Mt. Fuji are Lake Yamanakako, Lake Kawaguchiko, Lake Saiko, Lake Motosuko, and Lake Shojiko.
The view of Mt. Fuji from Lake Kawaguchiko is the most popular among tourists since it can be accessed by train.

Lake Kawaguchiko

Access: 10 minutes on foot from Kawaguchiko Station of Fujikyuko Kawaguchiko Line.
Photo: I got off at final stop “Kawaguchiko-shizen-seikatsu-kan (No.22)” to take pictures.
The bus driver gave me this tip: “Mt. Fuji is seen most clearly there.” This bus line starts at Kawaguchiko Station of Fujikyuko Line and connects local sightseeing spots in the area.

“Retro Bus one day trip” departs from each station of Kinshi-cho, Asakusa, and Ueno.

 Lake Ashinoko

Mt. FujiMt. Fuli viewed from Hakone near Lake Ashinoko is also very popular. You take Hakone Ropeway to enjoy the grandeur of Mt. Fuji while going down from the top of Mt. Hakone. Note, however, that it is crowded, and clouds and poor visibility often block the view of Mt. Fuji. For details,

芦ノ湖周辺の箱根から見る富士山も人気です。とくにケーブルカーに乗って、山から下りてくるときに見えます。 ただし、人気なので、やはり混み合います。

See this photo. Mt. Fuji is not always covered with snow. From June to October, there is no snow on Mt. Fuji.
Moreover, it is often hazy during the warm season due to the moist air from the sea. If you want to enjoy the clear view of Mt. Fuji, I recommend that you visit there during the cold season.

From Osaka to Tokyo, make sure you take a seat on the left side (seat: E). On reverse direction, from Tokyo to Osaka, you take a seat on the right side (seat: E). You’ll know that the train is already passing by Mt.
Fuji when most of the passengers start taking pictures by their smartphones.

Needless to say, make sure you take a window seat. But, it is up to luck if Mt. Fuji can be seen from your window. Mt.Fuji飛行機から眺める
